Marana
"Sp., 'jungle or tangle'. Railroad station SPRR 22 miles west of Tucson. Established 1890. Probably because of dense thickets of mesquite, cat claw, and other desert trees around here." 'First called Postvale after Mr. Post of Battle Creek, Michigan, who was interested here for a time. In 1920 it began to grow due to the erection of a fine pumping plant. Much cotton is now raised here." PO est May 17, 1924. Jesse W. Dells PM."
