Maricopa

"The first name for this point was Maricopa Junction because here the main transcontinental railroad joined a branch line to Phoenix. Placing the junction at Maricopa put the old Maricopa Station out of existence. In 1887 the word Junction was dropped. The post office at old Maricopa Station was moved to Maricopa in the same year."
