Somerton

"In 1898 people in the agricultural area ten miles south of Yuma discussed founding a town to provide facilities for potential residents, and a site on the Algodones Land Grant was selected. It was named Somerton at the suggestion of Capt. A.D. Yocum, after his hometown. PO est October 12, 1898, Minne E. Case PM."
